Come visit Philippines Randy! A lot of people love you hear. Your songs are great and you are truly amazing. You have a lot of peak potentials.
Hi. Sometime around 1986-87, Randy had a song on the jukebox with the following lyrics:
"I put a golden band on the right left hand this time".
I've searched through his cd's and cannot find it. This song has a very special meaning because I was just married for the 2nd time.
Please tell me how I can get a copy of the cd with this song on it.
You're the greatest, Randy and I'm a completely smitten fan.
Regards,
Barbara
Yes, he did it in OK for the three-year anniversary of the OKC bombing in 1998. He sang it a capella and it was wonderful. He also did "I Did My Part" that day. I was fortunate enough to have attended.
I wondered if she meant this one but since she referenced Randy, I went with that.
Didn't think Randy's was truly the song she was looking for.
Barbara, your lyrics you quoted don't quite match these lyrics of the song "On The Other hand" but this is the only one i can think of that comes close to what you're describing put out around that time frame.
It is on the "Storms of Life" CD.
On one hand I count the reasons, I could stay with you
And hold you close to me, all night long.
So many lover's games, I’d love to play with you
On that hand there’s no reason, why it's wrong
But on the other hand, there's a golden band
To remind me of someone who would not understand
On one hand I could stay and be your lovin’ man
But the reason I must go is on the other hand
In your arms I feel the passion, I thought had died
When I looked into your eyes, I found myself
When I first kissed your lips, I felt so alive
I've got to hand it to you girl, you're something else
( Repeat Chorus )
That song is by George Jones not Randy.
The Right Left Hand
I've cried a million tears,
Down through the years.
Searching for that special one.
And the vows I took before,
Where all forever more,
But no matter how I tried they came undone.
Then the good lord finally gave me
The true love of a lady,
Someone who believes in me.
And she lets me know each day,
That love is here to stay.
I finally found someone who'll never leave.
Chorus:
I put a golden band on the right left hand this time,
And the right left hand put a golden band on mine.
When our hair is snowy white,
Time will prove I'm right.
I put a golden band on the right left hand this time.
I'll never have to reach
For the love that my heart needs,
She'll be close enough to touch.
And when the nights are long and cold,
She'll be there to hold,
All dressed up for one more night of love.
Chorus:
I put a golden band on the right left hand this time,
And the right left hand put a golden band on mine.
When our hair is snowy white,
Time will prove I'm right.
I put a golden band on the right left hand this time.
I put a golden band on the right left hand this time...
I was listening to Classic country and that George Jones song came on. I listen more to them than radio, they play Randy at least once an hour. The song was written by Johnny Russel, I think, not sure. It is a great song and might be one that Randy sang along with George at one of the shows. Hint, Hint! Can we list some songs and People that we would like Randy to record with? What a lineup! Lindaruth
Randy was requested to sing this song on one of the anniversaries of the Oklahoma City Bombing. He may have joined Reba at one of the many benefits they both do each year. With the oil spill and devistation in the gulf states, I look to see both of them involved in some work for the Louisiana and Mississippi people and children. God Bless them both and the work they do and God's Love to all of those who are about to lose their homes again. Lindaruth
When I was speaking to Randy Travis a few weeks ago, he told me that in the near future he is recording with Kris Kristopherson. I asked him to please consider doing a cover of Kristopherson's song several years back entitled, "Why Me, Lord?". I think that would be great for Randy to do and it sure expresses the pattern of Randy's life.
I know that Vince Gill can do a duet with a phonebook, and He and Randy already did "YOU AND YOU ALONE"; but I would love th hear them sing "WELCOME TO MY WORLD" by the late Jim Reeves. I have requested Randy sing this song for years and I think that their harmony would be terrific.
Always thought perhaps Reba and Randy would do well together.
Linda, has Reba done a duet with Randy though?? For some reason I always thought they had did the song "Amazing Grace" together. I am not sure if they actually did, but for some reason, I always thought. Maybe I am wrong. I will need to look it up...Thanks.
Take care

Never heard of them doing it; I know he did it on his IJ CD alone. If he did it on TV somewhere, I wasn't aware of it
