Randy Travis Gets Star On The Music City Walk Of Fame

Randy Travis has not one, but two stars to his name now. In 2005, Travis was honored with a star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame and this past Sunday, he was also given a star on the Music City Walk of Fame at Nashville’s Hall Of Fame Park. MCA Recording Artist Josh Turner was on-hand to formally induct Randy into the Walk of Fame. Turner introduced Travis by reciting lyrics from a song he had written early in his career, in honor of Travis, entitled “Thank That Man.”

Congratulations randy - No One More Deserving

I just want to publically say "congrats, Randy" for your star on the Music City Walk of Fame and of course the one on the Hollywood Walkof fame as well.

Ah shucks, let's just say "CONGRATULATIONS" on all your accomplishments and recognition. No one deserves it more.
As a matter of fact, most of us know you even deserve recognition you often have not been given but you know we're always behind you 100%.

God Bless.

VERY COOL! It is really cool that you now have a star in Nashville for all the hard work you put in to recording a new CD. Keep up the great work. The recognition is well deserved.

Congratulations

Congratulations Randy on your star, you seem to be having a great a year! You were always a "star" in my eyes. I would have loved to have seen you at the Opry. Hopefully I can see you in 2009. Your fan, Fran

Congrats Randy!!!

As already said, "no one deserves it more".

I don't know if the Christian Music Association has a walk of fame. But if they do, maybe one of these days we will see a similar honor for you, via that genre, for your award winning albums and achievements.

I'm still hopeful that one of these days the CMA's or the ACM's (whichever organization has it) will recognize you with the Career Achievement award. We fans know you are long over due for that honor. Certainly deserving given the different fields of entertainment you have entered and have had success over the years. Dee

MCWF

The Music City Walk of Fame is a landmark tribute to those from all genres of music who have made significant contributions to preserving the musical heritage of Nashville and have contributed to the world through song or other industry collaboration. It was only created in the fall of 2006 so it is still fairly new but it would have been nice if Randy had been in the very first class of inductees.

Two Stars

It was back in 2004 he received the star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Lyrics to "Thank That Man"

Congratulations!

I would like to see the lyrics to "Thank That Man." I have never heard of the song and cannot find it on the internet.

the Walk of Fame

My wife and I were there when Randy got his star on the walk of fame. Josh Turner did a great job inducting Randy. I hope that he includes "Thank that Man" on an upcoming album. That would be so cool! I love to hear Josh sing, he is the closet thing to "real" country music. We were so glad to be there in person to see Randy get his star!!

Part of "Thank That Man" lyrics

Here's part of the lyrics of "Thank That Man", I also hope Josh includes it on his next album! Him & Randy are my favorite artists ever!

I think this is just the bridge of the song...
"Randy, no matter where you are
Your songs will always be in my heart
A hero is what you are to me
And a legend is what you’ll always be"

"Thank That Man" Lyrics

That is a very cool part of the song. Hopefully someone can find the whole song. I'd like find that whole song. I think it would be a perfect song for Josh Turner to sing. I really like that verse you found.

Thank that Man

From what Josh said at the ceremony Thank that Man is a song he wrote about Randy a long time ago, before he had ever met him. I don't think it has ever been published anywhere. He said he was too nervous to consider singing it at the ceremony so he recited it.

MCWF

I agree Lademars. Don't understand why he wasn't, considering the state of the country music industry at the time he emerged on the scene.
I guess ones impact on their respective industry ( at the time the walk of fame) was being put into existence ( given how new it is) wasn't much of a consideration as to who was selected to be the first inductees. At least he was included this time around. So I am happy and thankful for that. Dee

AWESOME VIDEO! It would be cool if Josh Turner one day in his career gets a star in Nashville and Randy introduces him.

Thanks Sara

That was really enjoyable! One day Randy will be returning the favor of introducing Josh for a similar award. Two of the best male volcalist in the business. Dee
