What the Grandstand lacks in star power, it makes up for in style
Haveing lived in this area for many years, after relocating to texas I made several trips back to this fair when Randy's been there but am not going this year. If anyone is, enjoy.
I also think they are misjudging what "star power" Randy has; otherwise why would they keep bringing him back from time to time. Anyway, I'm just including the short blurb on Randy.

What the Grandstand lacks in star power
it makes up for in style

In terms of sheer star power, the 2009 Grandstand lineup at the Minnesota State Fair
won't be one for the history books.
But like most years, the Great Minnesota Get-Together does offer a wide variety of
styles, from radio-friendly pop (Kelly Clarkson) to classic rock (Jackson Browne)
to contemporary Christian fare (Casting Crowns). And in a move that reflects these recessionary times, ticket prices mostly fall in the $30 range, which is cheaper than many arena shows that roll through the Twin Cities.
Here's a look at what's on tap for the Grandstand in the coming week:
TUESDAY / RANDY TRAVIS
While he has spent much of the new decade recording gospel-themed albums — and winning
multiple Dove Awards for his trouble — Randy Travis returned to the secular market
with last year's "Around the Bend," a modest success that earned him a pair of Grammy
nominations. More recently, the 50-year-old Travis looked back on both sides of his
career with two new compilations, "I Told You So: The Ultimate Hits of Randy Travis"
and "Three Wooden Crosses: The Inspirational Hits of Randy Travis." Joe Nichols opens.
7:30 p.m.; $32.
And the Minneapolis Star Tribune writes:
SEPT. 1
While he may have all the stage presence of a smiling statue, Randy Travis
sings with depth and passion, whether he's offering one of his early country hits
like "On the Other Hand," or more recent gospel favorites like "Three Wooden Crosses."
Travis' conservatism will contrast with opener
Joe Nichols, best known for "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off."( 7:30 p.m., $32.)
