Mountain Lakes Amphitheater, Flatwoods, WV

We are here patiently waiting for the concert. We arrived at 3:00 am. Thought we would get here a lot sooner but there seems to be some kind of time warp between Kansas and West Virginia. lol I got up at 7:00 am and happily discovered Randy's bus in our hotel parking lot. More details to come.

Glad you heard TIA, ronda, no luck here at all whenever i've been listening.

Jacquelyn,

I wish I had a picture to share with everyone of the expression on Randy's face when I told him that we had gifts and birthday wishes for him. He was very surprised and humbled by the fact that we would do that for him. After I told him that we had gifts for him, he looked at me as said "Where are they?" That is when Ronda handed me the bag and then he headed off down the stage to sign more autographs and shake hands. I made sure to watch as he walked off the stage with the gift bag in his hand.

Dwayne,

It was so nice to meet you and your family. I love hearing other fans talk of their Randy experiences. I hope we get a chance to meet up again soon.

It was such an awesome concert and I think Ronda covered it really well. Ronda and I have much of the same experiences and feelings when we see Randy in concert.

I have just seventeen (17) more days until I see him in concert again and I am counting down the hours and minutes.

Twyla,

Thanks for telling me what Randy said when you handed him the bag. That is very cool of what he said when you told him that you and Ronda had something for him. It is okay that you don't have a picture of the expression on Randy's face when you told you had something for him. I am glad that you and Ronda had a great time at the concert. Have a great day.

WOW!!! That is an awesome picture. What building is that in the background?

I finally heard Turn It Around on the radio last weekend. Of course I did not hear it on one of the Kansas City stations but instead on a little country station in Iola, KS, population 5800. Oh well, at least they are playing it somewhere.

Yeah, let us know how the concert was!

Please pray that it does not rain on our parade, but if it does then I guess I am getting wet!

I don’t know how the WV concert went Saturday night but the Ocean City MD concert on Friday night was well beyond my expectations. It was my first Randy concert and now I know I’ll never get enough of them. What a gracious and charming man he is and his voice is as great as it ever was -maybe even better. I’ve read a few critics saying he is losing it but they are completely off base! He came out singing and never stopped for an hour and forty-five minutes except to share a few jokes. A high point of the night was when he finished singing I Told You So, he got an enthusiastic standing ovation that went on and on. It felt like the audience was saying ‘she may be doing well singing your song but no one does it better than you.’ I believe he was touched by the tribute. I was thrilled to finally see him and now tonight it’s off to Trenton to enjoy it all over again - this time from the orchestra pit.

Loved reading your post on the show in Ocean City. I always enjoy hearing the thoughts, reactions of first time concert goers to one of Randy's shows.
As you mentioned, once you have attended one, you
just have to attend another, and another and another. He is indeed
adicting, as Linda said. But oh, what an enjoyable adiction to have.:)

He is indeed a gracious and charming man and entertainer. He gives it his all in everything he atempts. Be it his recordings, his acting or his live shows.
I too have read some of those critics claiming he is losing it. The very few times his voice seems strained is always when he is suffering from his allergies. This time of the year is really hard on him due to all the different types of allergins/ pollen in the atmosphere.

Randy has endured through the changes of the country music industry because he is the "the epitme of a true professional". Add his amazing talent , grace, and personality, music style, devotion to his fans, and you have one of the all time greats of the industry.

Thanks so much Cappy, for sharing your first concert experience with us. I don't doubt for a second, that the long standing ovation touched him deeply. To this day (almost 25 yrs in the business) he still always appears humbled by such a display of respect for his performance. Dee

The Lord was good to us Saturday evening. He brought the rain but it was short and sweet and ended in plenty of time before the concert was scheduled to begin.

I have been to many RT concerts but the absolute thrill that comes to me everytime he steps out on the stage continues to surprise me. What is it about this man? Can't really explain it, but once you see him in person it is impossible to get enough.

When the concert started it was immediately obvious that Randy was having issues with the climate in West Virginia. Randy, I truly feel your pain. I had to start sucking on Halls cough drops about the time we hit Kentucky. The air quality is not good for us allergic people. You could literally see the pollen flying through the air. After about the third song Randy apologized for his sinus issues and said he would warm up in a bit. And warm up he did. All I can say is Wow!!!! He hit notes that I felt all the way from the top of my head to the tips of my toes.

I want to say to all of the West Virginia fans, your state is absolutely beautiful. It takes your breath away(in my case, literally! lol).

Note to Jacqueline...Randy did get the birthday bag we brought for him. It was handed to him at the stage and I watched him carry it off when he left.

Dwayne, loved meeting you and your family. We definitely have to do that again sometime!

Ronda
The feeling is the same, we really enjoyed meeting and talking with you and Twyla It was so much fun. We hope to do it again soon!
dwayne

Ronda,

Thanks for the update about the concert and thanks for letting me know that Randy did receive the birthday bag with all the cards. I hope he really enjoys reading all of them. I wonder who handed it to him? THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW. HAVE A GREAT DAY.

We were at the stage talking to Randy and Twyla told him we had a bag of gifts for him. I handed the bag to Twyla and she gave it to him. He carried it around with him as he walked the stage signing autographs and shaking hands. It was too cool.

That is cool. What did he say while you all were talking? I really wish I could have seen that. That is awesome. I wish I can meet him again sometime at another concert.

Nice review of your recent attendence at the WV show of Randy's.
I too truly feel for Randy, when he has to endure the effects of his allergies, while trying to put on a show worthy of the peoples money, in this kind of weather. It's completely understandable why
he likes to do the casino's and ampatheaters where the atmosphere
is more clearer and controled.

There is definitely something very special about the man. That one can never get enough of him live ,or even on his cd's.

I'm glad that the rain held off. Dee

I agree with all of you, never enough Randy in any shape or form.

thanks for the review; i only wish i could have been there also but my time is coming again, thank heavens.
I won't bore you with a countdown just yet but when it gets below 30 days, look out (lol).

Denise, i know also what you mean by being excited. The only thing that doesn't excite me thatmuch these days is the travel but knowing what's at the end of the road always makes it worth it.

Cappy, sounds like the man i've come to know for sure. I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself so much and glad you have another one to follow up this one.

Randy truly is addicting, isn't he? Enjoy tonight in Trenton as well; i know you will.

I hope the concert is awesome tonight. Can't wait to hear report about the surprise you have for him that some of us fans sent for him. That is very cool that you saw his bus in the hotel parking lot where you are staying. Have an awesome time!!! I REALLY HOPE THAT YOU GET SUNSHINE DURING THE SHOW AND THAT YOU STAY DRY!!!
