RT "I'll Fly Away" Song Question...

Hi y'all. I have a small question about the song "I'll Fly Away" from Randy's "Worship & Faith" album.

In the song, the female vocal in the backround, is that someone in particular singing along with Randy? Or are they just regular backround vocals? I have always wondered about that. Thanks for helping me out :)

Jasmin; Checking out the song list on the jacket of the album the only guest listed is Mac Powell of "Third Day". But I know both John Anderson guests with him on "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" as well as Lori White on (I am sure it was) "I'LL Fly Away".

I have (in my collection of print materials on Randy) an album review that mentioned both of them guesting on the album. along with Mac Powell.

Lori is also a country singer. She had a couple albums out. Don't know if she still records. I always liked her voice. Hope this clears it up for you of who it was singing with him on that song.

Thanks for letting me know this!! I really do appreciate it since I have always wondered whether if it were just backround vocals or someone in particular. But I do appreciate you telling me my friend. Thanks!! :)

Jasmin,. The ladies who usually do his background vocals are the Cherry sisters. In his early recordings Bailey and the Boys ( a trio group for a few years) did a lot of background vocals on Randy's albums. Lady Antebellum kind of remind me of Bailey and the Boys.

I have listened to the song again, and quite cannot pinpoint if the female singing in the backround of "I'll Fly Away" is a particular artist or backround vocals...BUT...from my point of view...I am pretty sure its backround vocals (Lol) But it is a great song. I sure enjoy it very much :)

Dee, just FYI, the lady on this song was Joy Lynn White according to a few articles i have on file. I'm not familiar with her at all.
I did know of the other one you mentioned.

I'm not being critical; I just thought you'd want to know.
One of the reviews was out of Billboard.

Not a problem. You're probably right. For some reason a picture of Lori came into my mind. Had the last name right at least. :) Was Ricky Skaggs wife's name Joy? Being a religious song, and the Whites being a Christain (family) mucsical Group I'm wondering if that is who was doing the vocals on that song? Just curious now as to who she was.

Boy, I'm batting a 1,000 on this one. Thanks Ronda and you are right .

I have been personally working hard to find out how we can get songs like "Dig Two Graves", "Faith in You" and "You Didn't Have a Good Time" on the radio. I have talked to what feels like hundreds of radio people all over the United States and have come up with this:

We, as his faithful fans need to contact the major radio stations and ask them why they don't play one of these songs and then request that they take steps to look at the singles released off that album.

So, I am starting with just one of the major radio stations in California. If KFROG 95.1 starts playing one of these songs, believe me, others will follow.

PLEASE TAKE JUST A FEW MINUTES EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU WHO READS THIS AND WHO LOVES RT'S MUSIC, TO CLICK THE LINK BELLOW OR TO COPY THIS LINK, PASTE IT, AND THEN WRITE A SHORT LETTER ASKING THEM TO PLAY A SONG FROM THE AROUND THE BEND ALBUM -

This link will allow you on their website to a general mailbox. Just type your letter and press send.

Thank you to each true Randy fan. We know how great his new music is, and now it is time FOR US to help the rest of the country hear it.

Come on, if radio plays suggestive rock (so-called Country) songs entitled "Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy" then we have to get them to play the amazing music of Randy Travis. A music superstar and genius.

I know Randy will appreciate it, and so will I. I need the extra people helping me!!!

God Bless you all
