The Randy Travis Story...

Hi everyone. My friend just recently ordered me a 3-disc cd, called "The Randy Travis Story" and it is a Radio Interview (United Stations Programming Network) with Randy Travis, in the year 1988. I really do enjoy it because I have only been a fan for 4 years, and little by little I learn more and more about him, and listening to this, helps a lot because I am learning so much new things about him that I have never knew. I appreciate it too. I always like learning new things about him. I know for sure he is the BEST country singer!! (Lol)
Absoutely love his music, been loving it the moment I first heard him sing. He will forever be the BEST!! :)

Correction on the lady DJ still at WXTU is Lee Richards... not Edwards. Don't know where the Edwards came from .Don't know anyone by that name.
They've since dropped saying the" W" of the call letters too. Now just say XTU these days.

Yes, Linda, he sure did sound really young there. Well, he was young there :). That was quite evident when listening to them this morining via the link to You Tube.

Thanks ladies for those links. I remember this interview now when I began listening to it. I did have it on audio tape at one time. I guess I still do as I have a huge plastic container of audio tapes packed away in the basement.

The DJ doing the interview was Mike Brophy from WXTU 92.5 out of Brywn Mar , in Pennsylvaina. He was the 3-7 pm DJ. I even have a photo and autograph from Mike. He and I use to chat often during those days. He was a huge Randy fan.

He was also the one who told me that the station(s) were easing him out. That was about the time his "Full Circle" album got released, and got little support about the mid 90's. Radio was in love with the more pop/rock type of country artists comming out. Such as Garth, Travis Tritt etc.

As he described to me, that the stations (nation wide) were seeing a huge insurgence of younger callers who were acceptable and in tune to that kind of country. Shortly after that, the station started replacing all their DJ's. With like minded music interests to insure success and longevity. And we know how successful that move has been for our Randy...not! The only one still there is Lee Edwards. A female DJ who had the 10 am - 3:00pm slot. The last time I was in NJ and tuned in to that station and time slot she was still there.

Jasmin since you are in NJ I'm sure you get that station.
I read recently on All About Country that the station recently got a new music programer. A female this time. I don't remember what her name was. I didn't pay much attenion to her name.
Anyway, thanks Sara and Jasmin for the links and info.
hugs, Dee

I am sure i too have it on cassette Dee packed away. I always liked Mike Brophy's interviews. i have a couple more Vocalists of the Year and Horizon Award winners shows he also did some time back. Randy always sounds so young in these.

Hi everybody. It wasn't a 3 disc cd that came all together. What it is was that my friend ordered a Radio Segement interviewing Randy Travis and its 3 hours long. Each disc carries an hour. She ordered from E-Bay she told me. That is all I know from where she got it. :)
I like it because only being a fan for 4 years, little by little I learn more and more about him and listening to the Radio Show made me learn more which is nice because I always enjoy learning new things about Randy :)

Lademars I never heard of that either .Especially being that it is a radio interview by the sound of it. I do have a 3-CD set of his music though that came in a tin box. It is called Randy Travis the Collectors addition.
But it is only music no interviews involved. I think it was Betty who posted about it when many of us were on the T//T site.
I'd like to know where Jasmin's friend ordered it from as well. I'd like to be able to purchase it too.

Jasmin, if you get around to reading these posts, I hope you can get the info from your friend and share it with us here.
hugs, Dee

I saw this on Youtube a while back. I think this is what Jasmin is talking about. That's cool your friend is getting it for you!
