Awards and record sales
I have been reading several comments about Randy and the Grammy win. For younger people, they might actually believe that this is his first win. Could the Travis team print out the total amount of awards Randy has had in his career. Everything from the BOB HOPE award in performing around the world for the troops, to all of the GRAMMYS, ACM,AMA, DOVE,CMA, AND ALL other awards so the new kids can see just what an underrated superstar RAndy really is.
Also, years ago Kenny Rogers requested an audit of all, WORLDWIDE record sales. By the numbers, I think Randy tops most of the lists with sales, but the way they are reported, sometimes is confusing. I'd like to see this and I am sure his old and new fans would like to applaud Randy for a terrific career in a world of one hit wonders. Thank you, Lindaruth
I heard a report one time that said that if the same accounting systems had been in place in 1986-1990, that were in place when Garth Brooks records were recorded, that Randy would have an even higher count on firsts, not just in country music but in concert attendance. I just find it interesting, that he seems to be ignored by the" powers that be" now.
I also read numerous times that it was mainly due to the unheard of sales for Randy is the reason sound scan was put into place. I often wished too, Lindaruth, that it had been available for when Randy was at the top of the charts, and drawing the biggest crowds that a country artist had ever done (outside of Elvis) who didn't stay to his country roots as far as the kind of music he choose to record.
I think we all agree, that it is sad that they no longer consider Randy a viable artist in the country genre these days. Yet he keeps on winning awards and proving them wrong. We still consider him as such, and love him . That is all that really matters.

Just counting the ones on his awards pages, Randy has won
91 (including his recent Grammy with Carrie) awards. That is an amazing
accomplishment!!! Especially for a pure country traditionalist. A genre that isn't seen as out reaching as pop , country pop, or rock artists.
I think Randy has proven that a myth!
Imagine how many more he could have been nominated for ( and possably won) had radio not taken him off their play lists for this last decade!
I know its not about the awards for Randy (though I know without a doubt he is very appreciative of every single one of them).
Speaking for myself, I feel truly fortunate and blessed (as I'm sure we all do).To have lived in a time ,where a talented country music artist (such as Randy) has been able to be appreciated, and awarded for that talent. That wasn't always the case for the pioneers of traditional country or blue grass artists. Of course they didn't have the outlets to be seen and heard as they do today. So that has definitely helped to make a difference. But still the talent and the personality had to be there for fans to have responded to him the way they have.

I'm with you Lindaruth. It would be fun to know exactly how many albums Randy has sold. I think the count we get (though differs from article to article...depending on the writes research) are for those just sold naton wide. We know Randy is loved internationally as well as here in the states. So it would be interesting to get an audit ( accurate counting) for his entire sales, as Kenny Rogers did. But I don't expect it to ever happen.
