I liked the cover of the Bob Dylan song on Randy's new album. I also liked his previous cover of "King of the Road." Now, if I had to pick one Beatle's song for Randy to cover, what would it be? I haven't decided yet. Any ideas? I'll have to think about it and get back to you with my Randy Beatle's cover suggestion.

Beatles Song randy Should Cover
larry, just FYI, Randy already recorded a Beatles song on a CD titled "Come together: America Salutes the Beatles,"; it was "NoWhere Man." The CD was released in 1995 and was comprised of several country artists..
As a matter of fact, he was doing in throughout his concert dates last year.

To add to
what Linda has already posted about" Nowhere Man" He said he listened to numerous Beatle songs.Tthat was the one that he
felt he could do with his country voice. He even performed that song in London at the tribute concert to the Beatles .
He has also covered (with Willie Nelson), a Frank Sinatra song on his Hero's & Friends album called "The Birth of The Blues' Another stellar performance by Randy and Willie.
And just as recent as last year, he did a version of a Perry Como hit, called "I Don't See Me In Your Eyes Anymore". That one you can find on the Imus Ranch Record.
"Are We In Trouble Now" was a Mark Knopler song. I don't know if Mark had a recording on it, but I do know he wrote it. So Randy has done a few songs by other non country artists throughout his career. Dee
and Of Course there Is...
Then there is one of my favorites, "Just a Matter of Time" the old Brook Benton song which can be found on a few of Randy's releases including "No Holdin' Back," Greatest hits, Vol. 2; Greatest #1 Hits, live DVD/CD of the same name, as well as his recent Ultimate hits.
Oh yes, he also re-did "Singing' The Blues" also on the "No Holdin' Back" CD.
Songs
Linda, you know how much I love It's Just a Matter of Time. He hit those low notes just right on Saturday, didn't he? I felt it all the way to my toes.
My 8 yr old son told me once that I should ask Randy to sing "Help me Ronda". Uh-huh. Like that's gonna happen.
Sonny James
Sonny James also did "It's just a matter of time" as well as Brook Benton. But Randy does it the best! Had to laugh about "Help, help me Ronda." Now that was insightful of an 8 yr old!

Let me tell you the whole story. We were at the grocery store and the song Help Me Ronda started playing over the intercom. I told Jacob that they are playing mommy's song. He stopped and listened for a moment, got a real confused look on his face and then he said, "Mom, that is not Randy Travis." I told him that no but mommy's name is in the song. Then that's when he told me that the next time I talk to Randy I need to ask him to sing that song for me.
Songs - I Have a Better Chance, Maybe
Well, I have a better chance of him singing "Linda on My Mind" but only because it is a country song. I'm not holding my breath.
You're right about those low notes of course but then you saw me when he did it. Love them also.
Still thinking about the show.

With regard to "Just a Matter of Time," without a doubt, Randy does it the best. You have to understand, until Randy, I didn't follow a lot of country so am not as familiar with Sunny James and Randy himself usually only references the Brook Benton version if he mentions someone else doing it.
Now "Help, Help, Me Rhonda" - I know that one - that's the music I once listened to. To be honest, I still do listen to the oldies like that at times. No way does it compare to Randy but it sure is better than some of the country of today.

Sonny James
Was my favorite country singer until Randy came along. I still like Sonny and have his greatest hits clollection that I listen to every now and then.
His version of "It's Just A Matter Of Time" also hit the top of the charts.
But I have to say I like Randy's the best...I think the fact that he spoke the chorus really made the difference of my preferring Randy's version over Sonny's. I love the way he says the line "girl, I know, you're gonna need me again, and it's just a matter of time". Dee
Yes, that voice
Dee, I like that line in Just A Matter of Time also and the fact that he speaks it.

Okay ladies, I've got to put my name in the ring here about songs of womanes names ...with;
"How I Love The Kisses Of Dolores"
Aye, yi, yi Dolores,
Not Emily, Mabeline or Florence,
But only my Dolores.
Thats all I remember of it. But that is going way back...and I do mean waaay back. I don't even remember who sang it now. But it was a male solo artist. Dee
Nowhere Man
I was just thinking about when Randy would introduce this song he would always say that we should hear him sing She Loves You, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah. That it's real special. And I bet it would be.
Kind Of Like "I Wanna hold Your hand"
Yes, remember that also, Ronda, it is kind of Like I Wanna hold Your Hand - actually, if i were to pick another Beatles song i think Randy could do justice to, well there are a couple..."Here Comes the Sun" and "Yesterday".
