When I found out Randy Travis was going to be at The Mable House right here in Cobb County I couldn't believe it. When I was in high school Randy Travis was my FAVORITE country music singer. Yes, I was teased mercilessly for liking country music in the late 80's when Duran Duran and MC Hammer were all the rage. But I didn't care, I hung my poster of Randy Travis right next to my Beatles posters in my atypical teenage room (I loved all kinds of music and still do).

When I was 17, I went to Nashville Tennessee with my boyfriend (who now happens to be my husband!) to visit his mother. She had a friend who had actually worked with Randy Travis and knew where his house was......and better than that, he said he would drive us by THE home of Randy Randy Travis, Autographed Photo from 1989Travis! I was in heaven!

We actually only saw a gate leading to a long driveway, but it was still so exciting. I wrote Mr. Travis a note about how much I liked him and his music along with my address and phone number (crazy I know) and tied it to his mailbox with a pony-tail holder. And guess what???? He actually wrote to me and sent me this autographed photograph from a trip to Cairo, Egypt! (Yes, I still have this cherished picture after all these years!)

It's pretty amazing that The Mable House has such a great line-up this year. I wish I could make it to the concert, but I won't be able to. Oh well, I'll have to see my old "pal" the next time he comes to town!
