Not a fan no more! Randy is against Coal Miners.....
My family has been a fan of Randy Travis since day one and was very disappointed that he is againt mountaintop removal for our coal mining families.
Personally, this has hit rock bottom...It's a shame..People like these can live for the rest their lives living good while people like us who live below their standards has to stuggle...HAS IT REALLY COME TO ALL THIS? I MEAN, DID SOME OF THESE PEOPLE FORGET WHERE THEY CAME FROM??
These people make their living off coal..They USED electicy that made them millions and millions of dollars.. What about us? what do we get? NOTHING..WE ARE LOOKED DOWN ON BECAUSE WE WANNA SURVIVE AND LIVE...
SO, LET'S PUT OUR OPINIONS ON HERE..NOTHING GRAPHIC, NO PROFANITY..JUST EXPRESSING OUR THOUGHTS..
BUT Honestly why should we care about them? WHY SHOULD WE buy their CD, their logos, go to their concerts that made them who they are today..
They dont give a crap about us, why should we give a crap about them?
WE ARE WHAT MADE THOSE PEOPLE WHO THEY ARE TODAY

Randy Travis should thank god everyday that he was blessed with the talent of singing and not having to crawl on his knees in the coal mines to feed his childred for 10 to 12 hours a day.
The next time Randy you get up and turn a light just remember where it came from friend. Coal miners the ones you and your friends are trying to destroy. If I were you I would apologize to my fans and reconsider the decisions you are making if you want to continue to be successful in the business. Because as of right now I will change the channel when your played on radio and would never buy another cd with your name on. You are trying to take food from childrens mouth with your decisions.
I'm sticking with Randy for good or worst! I'm 20 years old and i had a rough childhood ! His voice healed my heart & soul after endless hours of being beat by my father. I would hide in my room and cry while listening to his deep loving voice!
He's one of the many reason i'm still living today and i can't bare to leave his side! He's like my guardian angel !

Two years ago Randy Travis sang at a Friends of Coal concert in Beckley, WV. He had no problem taking money from the industry that he is now criticizing. I was there - he was very warmly welcomed by the coal community. Maybe it's time we take that money back - if no coal mining family purchases CDs, concert tickets, other RT merchandise, it would only be appropriate. I only wish we could turn his electricity off for a week or so!
I sympathize to a degree, with those who depend on their livlihoods in the coal mining industry.
Since when did the US become a dictatorial country? Where no one has a right to stand up against somthing they feel is wrong and harmful to the enviorment and ultimately to its residence ?
So because mountain topping is vital to those for continued employment of the residence of those coal mining states, its ok to pullute the air and water supplies of the surrrounding towns, counties and states? Because that is basicly what you're expressing your anger for when others speak out against the topping of the mountains.. The right to pullute the air and water so that your means of providing for your families don't come to a halt.
The state of Pennsylvania was a huge steel manufacturing state. When steel no longer became the main source of demand for building automobiles, ships etc it took away many a jobs of families dependent upon it. But their states legistators came up with ways to build new jobs in manufacturing , technology. Why can't the states that rely heavily on the coal industry do the same thing that Pa did when its steel industry became a non factor?
Everyone (not sure about N.C. Randy's home state) of those artists who are standing up against the mountain topping, come from states where coal mining was the main livlihoods of the majority of the families . So they are very well aware of what the mountain topping means to the residence of those states for employment. But they are equally aware of the dangers to the enviorment and ultimately in time to the residence themselves . hugs, Dee
Thank you. You just said exactly what I wanted to say but I have decided that these people just want someone to argue with so I decided not to say anymore about it.
I've said all I'm going to say on the subject as well. Randy will always have my support where his career is concerned. His personal views on issues are his right to express. They don't change my views of him. Or my support in purchasing his albums, buying a ticket to his concerts ,merchantise etc.. hugs, Dee
I support randy on this also in this case if he truly has taken this position. but i've not always agreed with everything he has expressed his opinions on; yet it is his right as Dee has stated. It won't stop me from spending money on music I enjoy or going to see the shows I enjoy. Likewise, in the past, I chose to do that and don't feel later that Randy has taken money from me either; I've chosen to give it by way of ticket purchases and merchandise.
and unless someone has read some articles I've not read, and that is always possible, I don't recall Randy specifically stating his views, the ones i read only said he had attended the meetings. It may be he just wanted to see what it was all about when invited to attend. Who knows.
And with that, I'll say no more on this one either.

I think if you are in the public eye you should think before expressing your views on much at all, especially when it comes to people trying to make a living. Mr. Travis will not only get another dime of mine nor will he get any from my family and friends. When he comes on the radio we have no problem switching the channel. If Randy for one day would work in the mines crawling on his hands and knees he may retract his views and support our coal miners.
As with any entertainer, they will have differing views/opinions than I will every so often. This is one of those 6 of one, half dozen of another topics. I can see both sides. But as for whether or not to remain an RT fan..........
I've enjoyed Randy's music for well over 20 years. He's pulled me through several times. I love his voice........and his style. Why would I take that away from myself?!?! That would be just plain silly.........
Especially since I have not had the pleasure to sit and listen to his views on the subject. Heck, I have no idea how he feels or how strong he feels about all of this.......why would I judge him? It's not my place..........
A fan forever..........

Where did you find out that Randy was against coal miners? There is a real fight against our constitution right now. We are avid Glen Beck Fox news people. Where did you find this out about Randy? WE don't support this. How can people help you? I've heard some about this, but not alot. Pres. Obama has some pretty crazy czars out there right now.
Sunflower, the blog to which you're replying is only in response to someone who read it elsewhere.
the other day, however, I posted the article on the blogs to which they are referring. The article was titled:
Country singers begin campaign against mountaintop coal removal and in the blog I included the URL from where the article came.
Also, since that time, Lademars has also posted some photos including one of Randy with the group and she too included the URL I noticed.
So it in fact has been in the news; I hope this helps.
