It's great that Randy placed Ninth, but "a slightly worn out voice???" Quite the contrary, Randy's voice gets better and better with more vibrancy and passion IMO.
Dr Don Givens
I agree with you, countrybug and Dr. Givens that Randy just gets better and better. Randy has the best voice in country music and like Dr. Givens says: He sings with reverence and passion that was missing when he was young. I get so mad at the negative comments about Randy. There will never be another singer that will be as good as Randy. Butterfly
I sometimes wonder what these people are hearing that we don't hear when they make such comments regarding Randy's voice. His voice is like fine wine. Just gets better and better ( more emotive, expressive) with each passing year.
I guess what they think is an aging voice, is a voice that has probably been effected from his many allergies (especially so when he has a lot of out door concerts) As he has had more of these last few concert seasons.
I think it was Bert Reynolds who said," he would die, just to have Randy's speaking voice'!
I doubt that many of these critics even pay attention to artists except when they have to do a review on their album, or concert. So wouldn't know about the allergy issues Randy deals with on a daily basis. That can certainly have an effect on the voice. But I certainly wouldn't call it worn out, if he really listened to his deliveries of those songs on "ATB" . None of which are easy to sing properly.
One of the many things I have always loved about Randy's choice of material (besides the positive moral messages ) is that he doesn't play it safe as they would say...pick easy songs to sing. Dee
