Randy in Thackerville
I try to go to at least 2 or 3 of Randy's concerts a year. I live in Texas but travel all over to see him. I was very disappointed at the last concert. NOTHING to do with Randy. He was as great as always!! I LOVE to take pictures, and have at every concert of his that I have been to, EXCEPT the one at the casino in Thackerville, OK. Some said it was because it was in a casino, that they didn't allow pictures. All of his concerts, but one, that I have been to have been in a casino. The concert experience, as a whole, was a wash for me. I do hope that he never graces that place again with his fantastic voice and charming smile. I will not be returning to that place, for anyone! I did get to see Libby, she sat two rows behind me, and meet his driver and the bands driver. That was cool. All in all he is a supurb performer and I hope to make it to Walker, MN to see him in August. Maybe even have a meet and greet this time? You're the BEST Randy!!
The DJs on our country station were talking about taking pics at concerts. They were warning people that most venues won't allow cameras anymore. The reason was that too many people were taking videos and putting them on YouTube which is against copyright laws. I'm going to see Randy on the 18th. I guess I will e-mail the venue and ask them before we go.
It's disappointing not to get pictures.

I will definitely e-mail the casino. I had my camera with me all night long, before and after the concert, so I'm guessing that wasn't the problem. Oh well, can't let one terrible place spoil it for me!!! Thanks for ya'll input. Randy Fans are the best!! To bad we couldn't set up a place and time for nothing but Ranch Club Members and Randy and Crew to spend some time and get to know each other a bit, with a concert mixed in!!. THAT would be the BEST. Take care everyone.
Bill tried to take a picture of the angel fountain and was quickly told to put the camera away. I looked through the camera and saw what Bill saw. It was the infrared security lights beaming. I saw lots of people with their cell phones out at the end taking pics. I didn't bother. I highly doubt we will go back there. It is not customer friendly. cowwoman60 Denise
I've got a couple venues I swear i'd not go back to for various reasons but lack of allowing cameras isn't one of them, especially if they are close to home and i can get there. For me it is more a choice of letting the venue get to me or supporting Randy and i personaly choose to support Randy..
I wasn't happy either about the venue policies but as i've said, what annoyed me more is when they blamed Randy for their reasons of policy rather than taking it upon themselves to accept blame.
As disappointed as i was since I'd just gotten a new camera, it was a good show and I don't regret going. As I said, they did allow them in San Antonio but since i'm dependent on someone taking them for me anyway, not that many turned out. I haven't decided if I'm going to put them in my galery or not yet.
I know Bass Hall in Ft. Worth absolutely allows no photos but it is Randy so I'm still planning on getting there. Transportation is always more my issue but i've currently got a couple people lined up to go with me.
Even though a couple months away, I'm ready!!!

This was the second time randy has been to this venue but I don't believe they stopped people from taking photos in '07. I'm not sure as my camera wasn't wanting to function there anyway so i can't say for certain.
I've been to numerous shows also but each venue is different and those who don't allow photos seem to have one excuse or another. Sometimes also they say no photos but allow them anyway. This place was most definitely rude and I wrote from their web site and filled out their form about my visit. As expected, I never hearde back but i'm not surprised. Maybe it wouldn't hurt for a few others to do the same.
I've heard that with regard to casinos, they are always afraid some of their high rollers may be in the audience and thus don't want people to know who they are - like we're going to know anyway. But as Ronda said, to tell us Randy doesn't allow them is ridiculous.

Admittedly a little surprised, I did receive a response from Thackerville. I can't say it is worth much but here is what they said:
Linda, I apologize for such poor communication from our staff. It is a venue policy as most acts don't allow "professional" cameras and it's getting difficult to determine that these days. The issue has been addressed and we will also get better signage displayed. Your feedback is appreciated.
Sincerely,

Hi everyone, I don't know about the policy in Thackerville but I do know at the Casino in Ottawa and the one in Rama Ontario you are not allowed photos. It is definitely the policy of the Casino and not of Randy's. I think what it may be is that IF the casino has a seperate entrance to the concert that u do not have to go through the casino to get to they would allow it. Rama does not and therefore because cameras are not allowed in the casino they were not allowed at the concert either. I was disappointed but I did understand.
Yes, I was disappointed that they did not let us take pics also. Security tried to tell us that it was Randy who would not allow us to take pictures. We know that's not true. I have been to many RT concerts over the last 23 yrs and there have been just a handful that would not allow us to take pics so obviously it is the venue's policy not Randy's.
